No employer shall discharge, demote, suspend, refuse to hire, or in any manner retaliate against any employee, applicant for employment, or customer because such employee, applicant or customer reports, testifies, assists or participates in any manner in any investigation, proceeding or hearing regarding an alleged violation of this ordinance. Any person claiming to be aggravated by an unlawful act under this section shall have a cause of action in any court of competent jurisdiction for damages and other such remedies as may be appropriate.
